The Capability of Women…

Scripture introduces woman not as an assistant to man, but as a co‑image bearer and a GOD ordained helper.

The Bible lists, “male and female He created them… and blessed them.” – Gen 1:27–28

Both humans are appointed to be stewards of creation, to cultivate life, to exercise dominion and to multiply GOD’s Presence in the world.

Part of this is having and raising children. Unfortunately, there are countless times in life when the parents (male and female humans) are not “multiplying GOD’s Presence in the world” in obedience.

Here is a major struggle where the strength of the woman shines: Raising children (alone) involves significant emotional, physical, and financial demands, which are often more manageable when distributed between two parents. The problem arises when the male departs (or is pushed away) and the woman must go it alone.

Here is another major struggle where the strength of the woman shines: There is a valuable balance in diverse perspectives of the mom and dad. Children benefit from experiencing different parenting styles, strengths, and role models within a stable home environment. Sometimes they may get only one. …the moms.

Here is yet one more area in which there is a major struggle where the strength of the woman shines: I have heard the quip of people saying a woman can be very “emotionally unstable.” The struggle can be real for her. Yes. However, when she has support, she can become all she was created for.

A woman’s capability is not in question. The Bible is very clear how the woman was displayed by GOD to be the asset she is to kingdom work.

GOD designed her as a strategic, Spirit‑bearing asset to His kingdom. What is often misunderstood is how GOD displays her, and why her presence is essential in the Biblical story. The Woman is introduced as an Ezer — a GOD‑like Helper – Genesis 2:18

Ezer means “help” or “aid,” but specifically indicates a strong, active, often rescuing support—frequently used to describe GOD as a powerful helper. I will add THIS. In MY life, my wife has been a VERY PRESENT “Ezer.”

NOTE: I have said on many occasions and in many settings, “My wife has been the largest reason for me to have become the man I am today.”

FACTOID: Ezer is used…

  • 16 times for GOD Himself

  • 3 times for military rescue

  • 1 time for the woman

Ezer is not a domestic term. It is a warrior term. The Mighty and Covenant GOD displays the woman as a Covenant collaborator who carries GOD’s strength into human vulnerability. Folks, that is kingdom work!

BIBLICAL CHARACTERIZATIONS of the Woman:

  • She can discern danger earlier

  • She can perceive GOD’s movement sooner

  • She can respond to GOD’s voice faster

  • She can protect Covenant identity (she has for our children, grandchildren and our marriage)

  • She can nurture environments

  • She can stabilize households and communities

  • She can carry emotional intelligence that can and will preserve the unity of the Spirit

“Woman…” Are you doing these? We KNOW that you are created for this role, but have you chosen to obey the Spirit and walk in it? This is the unnamed truth that honors women’s strength without inventing her very struggle.

NOTE: Her husband does not make his wife capable, his being in it faithfully makes her life lighter.

I’ve watched my mother struggle and overcome many portions of her struggles. Likewise, I’ve been part of the uphill battle when the husband was absent or disconnected. I’ve learned many things from watching her. She has been critically acclaimed as “being my hero” and “the one I have looked up to.” There is no doubt, “she is the strongest person I know.”

Many women are entirely capable of raising children independently but having a committed and supportive partner can significantly ease the responsibilities and enhance the overall family experience, but capability is not the same as optimal conditions.

She should not have to carry the load alone. The FACT is, she was created to carry the load WITH someone who is present, invested, and emotionally reliable.

There is a notable distinction here. She can do it but should not have to. She needs help but WILL go it alone — and has!

Women don’t need men to be strong for them — they need men/husbands who are steady, responsible, and emotionally present so the family becomes a place of flourishing rather than survival.

This isn’t about gender roles. It’s about human reliability, shared responsibility, and emotional safety — qualities every spouse should embody.

REMINDER: A woman’s capability is not in question.
