Is Theology the Same as Knowing (yada) GOD?
The term Theology is the systematic study of GOD, His attributes, and the relationship between His Holiness and the universe that He spoke into being. Here is the catch... It is derived from the Greek words theos (god) and logos (word/reason).
It acts as a rational inquiry into faith, Scripture, and religious traditions. I admit, it is pointed towards and it is aiming to know GOD and understand how theological beliefs shape worldviews, ethics, and daily life.
The problem is… Much of it has its foundational origins in the thought patters of the Greek mindset. How does that work?
How is "theology" significant, if the Significance has been tampered with and/or removed?
We, "the created" don't understand the "knowing Him", so we must try to in whatever way we choose and determine that what makes sense to us and "our" culture is the right answer.
We gave that particular work a name-- "theology".
If a person wants to learn about the Creator, one must gain knowledge and understanding of Him to gain the spiritual depth needed. The language of His people should be used. This requires questions upon questions.
Knowing GOD is about Covenant, intimacy, and transformation—NOT gaining knowledge, power and control.
Pursuing GOD is about seeking Him with all your heart, striving to align your life with His purpose, and burning with desire for His Truth. That quest is going to be insatiable. Why? We are ever learning, thus it constant questions.
Chasing the Creator does not have an end. Approaching Him in the Greek mind, tells us that “I will find the answer, and I will teach it to you, from my knowledge.”
What theological doctrine are we really learning? In this “formulation of orderly accounts of faith-based truths, we end up having major branches of religious studies”—denominations.
Do you think this is "orderly?"
What is wrong or disorderly about what the Creator set in place with Moses, the Prophets, Writings and Commentary Details on the Life of the Christ and additional Books of Paul?
Are we to believe that man has a clue outside of what GOD's Spirit has revealed? Does EVERY man have a new and differing revelation of what GOD "thought" He was trying to relay? It is tough to wrap my faith around the many mistakes and changes the Creator made. Man, now must use theology to correct Him.
Overall, theology focuses on the chronological and thematic development of doctrine within the Bible. The fact is, without the Scrolls and details we have not been given revelation and understanding for, we don't know the exact timeline and development. However, we get a rather clear picture of what has transpired and what is to come. It is glorious, but not an easy trip! ...even for the faith full.
I’ve learned that systematic theology “organizes doctrines into a coherent, topical system (e.g., GOD, humanity, sin).”
Helpful? Maybe in some ways. Accurate? Look at history and today. It is a mess.
What about historical theology? This is a whole lot of studies of how doctrines and beliefs have developed throughout church history." Why is this important?
How would anything of "Truth" have "beliefs develop through history?" That tells me, man is trying to control GOD and dictate what he (man) / they (humans) want others to believe.
I’ve read, “the primary purpose of theology is to know, love, and obey GOD.”
How are we going to obey Him properly, when it seems that every STEP and MOVE made and spoken are leading us further away from the intended and Biblical HEBRAIC nature, HEBRAIC foundations and HEBRAIC culture of the HEBRAIC Truths His Word Commands for them to follow? The Greek language has some cool history, but the culture is waaay far removed from how the LORD wanted His people to associate with. We see that in Paul’s writings as well. He was calling his people away from the lifestyles and cultures they were living in (see every letter he wrote). Simultaneously, he was telling the ones (ger) who had GRAFED INTO the Ways of the HEBRAIC Culture what should be stopped and put away.
It is said, "theology provides a framework for understanding existence, and supports the mission of the church (the WHOLE OBEDIENT body of the Messiah), and guides ethical behavior by anchoring beliefs in divine revelation rather than just human opinion."
The problem with this definition is, this is only man's opinion of what he wants to believe from GOD's Word. One can’t tell if this is accurate, since there are NUMEROUS denominations and doctrines.
What does THAT say to us?
"We don't agree with GOD, nor His Son, nor His Spirit, and we want NEW Ways to live." We refuse to trust and obey what GOD has said. Which is what His Son repeated and lived out in obedience.
Why is theology trying to insinuate in many ways that Yeshua (Jesus) came to teach and start up an DIFFERING Doctrine that what the Law of GOD has already shared and the Prophets have been relaying?
That is why there is a separate of "OLD" and "NEW". …man’s theology.
That is why many denominations declare, many parts of the Bible "are NOT for today". …man’s theology.
GOD's Word is very clear on what He said. Greek-minded man, however, has to be the one who is right and has all the answers. Who needs the True and Wise Creator? He knows nothing anymore and is OLD news. We have exceeded His knowledge, just as we have surpassed Israel and "REPLACED" that Chosen Nation.
Yeah... That is theology. It is NOT for me.
If you love GOD and His Son, seek Him in the Ways of the GOD of the patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I will stick with GOD's Truth, the Son or GOD and the Holy Spirit of GOD and His unbreakable Covenant with Abraham.
See Jeremiah 31, His Son's death and numerous other Scriptures on the Renewed Covenant. The "word" for this actually means reestablished, refurbished or renewed--NOT brand spanking new.
If you want true freedom, get to know the LORD via His Spirit. He is the Best Teacher. There are too many denominations in theology ‘alone’.
