Healing the Soul and Mind (Jesus as the Passover Sacrifice)
Passover describes Jesus' death as the Ultimate Sacrifice. As the blood of an unblemished lamb saved Israel from judgment in Egypt, Jesus, the "Lamb of GOD," shed His blood to redeem humanity from the slavery of sin. It is the Foundational Feast, because it commemorates the blood of the lamb protecting the Israelites (and the mixed-in Nations) from death and their deliverance from bondage. Prophetically, it represents the crucifixion, with Jesus as the perfect Passover Lamb sacrificed for (our) sin.
<pause> If you have trusted in Jesus and have been “grafted in” among Israel (Romans 11:17–24), Passover is not something you observe as a way to replace Israel or “play Jewish.” It is a Memorial that helps you understand the redemption GOD accomplished and how Messiah fulfills it. In Exodus 12, judgment passed over the homes marked by the lamb’s blood, and the LORD brought His (obediently faithful) people out of slavery.
The New Testament draws a straight line to Messiah: “Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us,” as shown in 1 Corinthians 5:7. If you are part of the nations, Passover becomes a VERY important picture of Truth, and the Lead is Jesus. Mankind’s rescue was authored by substitutionary blood, which lead to the humility that will not/does not boast over the natural branches—Romans 11:18. Rather, the gratitude and worship of the GOD of Israel who saved you through Israel’s Messiah should be the goal.
