Healing the Soul and Mind (Jesus’ Holy Spirit Sanctioned the Greater Harvest)
Growing up, I had heard this word “Pentecost,” but it was fruitless. When I became a devoted servant of the ADONAI Yeshua (Lord Jesus), I began to notice that word on calendars. It was not something I heard in differing church gatherings, until one day (1992ish), I was introduced to a lady who was different. She was gifted in the Spirit of the Lord. It was EVIDENT! I asked GOD, “What that was about?” “I wanted to receive what He had given her.” A few years later He did. Praise Him! I looked into the Acts 2 Pentecost adventure/movement, but I had NO CLUE of the history of it among the believing Gentiles.
I KNEW it Biblically originated with the gathered men in Jerusalem (see Scripture). However, some important details were missing and/or unclear. I later learned “it was part of a Biblical counting of the Weeks (7) leading up to this yearly celebration. This counting started on the first day after the Sabbath (FirstFruits), that led to the Wheat Harvest (day 50). This is one of the (3) GOD required Pilgrimage Feasts of the Lord, for the men of Israel.
What a life transformation He has brought about in me! Learning and seeking to understand the things written in Scripture, for me, never ends.
About 13 years ago, I was cleaning up at work and met this fella. He starts talking to me like I knew him. I asked the Spirit, “Who is this guy and what does he want?” I then looked at that man and inquired of him (2) things that I had no idea I was going to ask, and I did not know what I was saying. His answer was enough to pique my further curiosity, so, I asked “Where he went for church fellowship?” I visited that next meeting, and I have been on a more intense journey since that inaugural meeting! That was 15ish years ago.
One of the things I was gloriously baptized with (immersed/introduced) were, the Leviticus 23 Feasts of ADONAI (the Lord). …LIFE-changing!
The “Feast of Weeks” (Shavuot/Pentecost) represents the coming (giving) of the Holy Spirit to men who were enabled to speak in languages they were foreign to originally. Exactly 50 days after Firstfruits, GOD poured out His Spirit to empower those men (and likely women and children) who were there for this the third of the traveling Feasts. GOD required the men of the Twelve Tribes to go to Jerusalem every year for Pesach (Passover/Unleavened Bread), Shavuot and Tabernacles. This sets the stage for the Great Harvest (from all nations) that was to come.
Pentecost (Shavuot) is the counting of 49 days (7 weeks =1) and how they mark the (50) days after Firstfruits—is the Wheat Harvest. It connects the abundance of the Harvest to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the invitation for the nations from all over the world, to come to know the GOD of the Israelites.
Shavuot (Weeks/Pentecost) is more than an “Acts 2 moment.” It is a Covenant Marker. In the story of Israel, Shavuot is tied to the giving of Torah at Sinai, where GOD forming a redeemed people and teaching them how to live as His own. In the story of Messiah, Shavuot is tied to the giving of the Spirit. This is GOD writing His Instructions on hearts and empowering obedience (see Jeremiah 31:33; Ezekiel 36:26–27 and Acts 2:1–12). This is CENTRAL for the additional grafted-in believers like me).
We are not invited into a disconnected, brand‑new religion, but into Israel’s Messiah and Israel’s Covenant promises “by faith” — Romans 11:18.
Shavuot also carries a “nations are included” witness built right into it. The book of Ruth is usually connected with Shavuot, and Ruth is a Gentile (from the nations who clings to Israel’s GOD and becomes part of the Messianic line (Ruth 1:16 and Matthew 1:5). Then in Acts 2, Judeans living in many nations heard the wonders of GOD in their own languages, signaling the Harvest invitation going outward. The Spirit did not erase Israel; He announced that the Harvest would include the nations, bringing Jew and Gentile into one redeemed people in the Christ (Ephesians 2:13–18).
Grafted-in believers can receive the Word with reverence: Shavuot reminds you and I that the GOD Who saves also speaks—He reveals His Ways.
Grafted-in believers can walk by the Spirit: the empowerment of Acts 2 is for witness, holiness, and endurance. It was not designed or meant to be about hype.
Grafted-in believers can honor the roots: celebrate inclusion with gratitude, not superiority—Romans 11:17–18.
Grafted-in believers can expect harvest: Shavuot is a Harvest Feast.
Please pray and labor for souls from EVERY nation.
