Being Consistent

Being a person who is consistent will usually prove you to be trustworthy. People who are trustable will often put a mind at ease.

Does a consistent person conform? I would say, “Yes.”  That person will create a standard for achievement, or a level of performance that does not vary greatly in quality over time. He is almost always the same.

Even though we grow and mature over time, being consistent does include having the same opinions or standards.

Consider a person who consistently pushes out subpar work and tasks.  Would you trust them?  Would you want to keep them employed with you?

A stable or reliable man is someone you can go to for advice.

No?

Yes?

What about being steady in GOD things?  Does that reliabilty mean all that much?  Will it matter in a crunch?  What about in a tough situation? Would you go talk to a (religious) person who is not dependable in spiritual matters? Would you want that person to be “consistent with GOD?”

Would you expect a person who say they “love and trust GOD” to be a dependable reference point?  Here are a few areas/things I have been affiliated with that I REALLY believe should be in that person’s life – constantly.

  • Live according to GOD’s will for his life.

  • Regularly obey and follow His Word.

  • Do whatever He tells Him to do, no matter what others may think or even if it’s hard.

  • Study GOD’s Word (Bible).

  • Join a group/men you can be accountable to.

  • Listen to Christian music.

  • Go to church regularly.

  • Find time to be alone and spend with GOD every day.

  • Read your Bible daily.

  • Pray (frequently) daily.

  • Stop living in habitual sin.

  • Don’t love the world (the lifestyle that is opposed to Holy living).

  • Look to Jesus and His Ways and work to model your life after His character, integrity and motives.

  • Stand on GOD’s promises.

A godly and consistent man’s life is marked by harmony, regularity, and noticeably steady continuity. This implies a lack of variation or contradiction in behavior or performance.

In principle, being consistent involves maintaining a steady and reliable approach in actions and beliefs.

Consistency is a genuine and accurate foundation of the trust we want to be at work in our lives. Either keep your promises or do not make them.

"It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do steadily."

As we are consistent in our pursuit of righteousness and the Truth found in GOD’s Word, it will be much easier to be confidently strong in our lifestyle. We will always know that the Lord is our Help and Support in all situations. We will not always be looking for “a miracle”, because we will already know Who the Source is, and likewise will lean on His will and not His Power.

In time, a faithfully consistent man, will seek the will of GOD in prayer and in His Word in persistently consistent ways, not just when the cupboard is bare (emergency of desperation) because we have not done the work to put bread in the cabinets and on the shelves. A man only gets paid when he has put in the work.

We don’t need to seek miracles. We need to be consistent in seeking GOD’s Son and the Truth of the Holy Spirit.
